The event is spearheaded by the Philippine Orchid Society, with participation from various local garden clubs, professional plant growers and companies, the Quezon City government, the Department of Tourism, and the Department of Agriculture.
Activities in the event include:
- competitive plant and landscape exhibition,
- trade fair,
- horticultural conference, and
- plant auction.
The objectives of the event are:
- to introduce the Philippines to the international floriculture map,
- to draw local and foreign participants to view the best that the country’s horticulture industry has to offer,
- to encourage plant growers to produce exemplary specimens for exhibition which would enable the Philippines to compete in the global horticulture market, and
- to promote technological innovation through scientific exchange between the academe and industry practitioners.
There will be 60 exhibits featuring an assortment of plants including new hybrids and species, with awards given to outstanding specimens and exhibit displays. A large sales area will have 120 commercial booths from all over the country and the world that will be offering the newest and rarest of their plant stocks and propagations as well as other related horticultural products.
A two-day conference composed of local and foreign horticultural experts will discuss the latest trends, technology, innovations, and global demands of the world's horticulture industry.
Special events include opening cocktails, conference reception dinner, appreciation dinner, cultural night, and guided tours to places of interest outside Metro Manila.
